Upon visiting Nijo Castle in Kyoto, Japan, Sean was inspired by the massive studded doors of the ancient Japanese fortress. The Nijo series draws on a number of attributes from that experience. The copper version is then electroplated and receives a hand finished patina. The black rock version is cast using ground volcanic rock from the island of Java.
